Monday Quote: for the love of words

I’m just starting this book (The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield) and am already fascinated by all of the beautiful passages about the love of books, words, and reading.  Here’s one of them to help us kick off the week!

There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic.

Check out The Thirteenth Tale on Amazon.

  1. I LOVED this book. I still cuddle it sometimes when I see it looking lonely on the shelf. I hope you like it as much as I did. It’s beautiful. I’m just upset Diane Setterfield hasn’t written any more books since. (Believe me, I’ve googled my brains out).

    • I’m only a couple of hundred pages in so far, but I’m totally loving it! I can’t wait to finish it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that she comes out with something new in the not-so-distant future!!

  2. I do love books about books, I’ll have to check this one out
